I have to admit, I didn't know this game before testing it for BestOldGames.net and now I am sorry, because it is one of the most entertaining old games I have played. Volfied is very similar to another old game - Qix. You control some sort of a ball and your task is whose purpose is to cut parts from the play field by moving the ball across it. It has a catch, however - you must not touch your enemies and so you have move quickly and reasonably. The main goal is to reduce the board by 80%. In the game there are several bonuses you can get, if you manage to cut out territory with the bonus cube - so you can stop time, get weapons, speed, etc. In each level, your enemies move - aliens, always divided into the main boss (the biggest one, who also shoots) and his minions (smaller ones, who only move). As long as you move around the borders, you have a shield to protect you from them. But this shield is not infinite. With long-term use, it will wear out, and then nothing will protect you from intruders. In order to take territory, you have to leave your protection, make a "line" around a certain area, and by reconnecting with the borders, they will move. Although the concept of the game is very simple (and really, very funny), even on the lowest difficulty the game is challenging and I had hard time getting pass the third levels. Go download it now, it's so much fun...
