The first part of the game series Mortal Kombat was very bloody, what at that time it was also a point of controversy and discussion. The creators of the game released Mortal Kombat 2 and they focused on all complaints of excessive brutality... by expanding them even further and adding more bloodiness and brutality to the game. MK2 is one of the most famous games of this series and it is not surprising. MK2 brought great gameplay, improved graphics and animation has gained a new dimension of brutality. In addition to known Fatality, creators have added two more moves to each fighter: Babality and Friendship. At least each fighter has two moves, where there is no blood. Babality transform the enemy into a small, harmless kid. Friendship ensure that your opponent makes any exibition jump and will make you a flower or a gift. After being defeated by Liu Kang, Shang Tsung managed to save his life from Shao Khan, the ruler of Outworld, who questioned the validity of the previous tournament and together they challenged the earth warriors led by the lord of thunder and lightning Raiden to fight again. The offer must not be rejected, the "underdogs" have the advantage of the home environment of a foreign country, the tournament begins.

Mortal Kombat II is the sequel to the successful Mortal Kombat fighting game. The game system of the individual games has remained unchanged, but there are more characters to choose from, bosses have changed, and alternative fatalities, babality and friendships have been added to the fatalities. In some arenas, a third type of fatality is also possible, the so-called pit; the latter uses the peculiarities of the environment, e.g. being impaled on nails or thrown from a bridge or into acid. Five playable characters "survived" from the original game, the total number of twelve is supplemented by seven new ones. For all of them, let's name the toothy swordsman Baraka, the hat master Kung Lao, Princess Kitana's half-sister Mileena, and the lizard man from the Scorpion family and Sub-Zero Reptil. Strangely, one of the seven new playable characters is Shang Tsung, who does not resemble his character in the first game.

In addition to the fact that the expansion also affected the number of arenas, which are, among other things, a torture chamber, a flying fortress, a forest or a bridge, the graphic processing did not undergo major changes. It is interesting, however, that the visual processing was based on photos and capturing the movements of real actors. The game introduced in-game tunes and as a whole took on a more lively tone. Mastering all the key sequences used for special moves here, due to their number, was several times more demanding than in the original title. The fact that Shang Tsung is able to temporarily transform into any other playable character also contributed to this.
