Grand Prix Circuit, released in 1988 for DOS, stands as a key title in the genre of Formula One racing games. Developed by Accolade, this game captivated the racing enthusiasts of its era with its representation of the high-speed world of F1 racing, despite the limitations in graphics and realism that were characteristic of its time. The nostalgia for Grand Prix Circuit remains strong, particularly for those who recall the iconic music that plays through the main menu—a tune that instantly transports former players back to the days of gaming on their trusty 386 computers.

The legendary F1 simulator, with which quite a few players today like to reminisce about their gaming beginnings. Even today, after playing for a while, you will be humming the melody from the menu and the sounds of the cars will completely blow you away. You have a choice of three cars from the F1 stables of the time. So choose McLaren (best), Ferrari (worst) or Williams (average) and hit the track. Here the selection is bigger: Brazil, Monaco, Canada, Detroit, Britain, Germany, Italy and Japan. The game features Practice, Single event and Championship circuit modes.

The graphics are quite simple, but the pit stops, for example, are very nice and elaborate. The slightest contact here means the end of the race, so you have to be careful when overtaking other racers, who understandably won't make it very easy for you.

What set Grand Prix Circuit apart, and what continues to endear it to fans, was its attention to detail in aspects outside the actual racing. Before and after each race, players were treated to comprehensive statistics and graphs detailing the cars' attributes, such as speed, power, and weight. This feature not only added a layer of strategy to the game but also educated players on the critical factors that influence a race car's performance. McLaren's dominance in the game reflected the real-world prowess of the team at the time, offering players the chance to drive what was considered the best car in the game.

Sorry, but we use english in main forum. If you want to ask a question in czech, use czecho-slovak language forum.

Anyway, the game works fine for me. You can even play it online (just press 3 to select EGA graphics and then when the game is asking for disk 2, just press enter.
