The sequel to the first EotB, it is considered by many to be the best part of the series. On the improved engine of the previous game, Westwood created a richer and more diverse world - added outdoor spaces, increased interactivity with the environment, and there was also the possibility to transfer the party from the previous work. After a successful adventure from the first game, our heroes rest in the local pub, enjoying their newfound fame. When they are suddenly interrupted by a message from Khelben Blackstaff - the archmage of the city of Waterdeep. He asks them for help. He sent one of his scouts to find out if the rumors of evil gathering around the temple called Darkmoon were true. However, he has not returned yet. Khelben transports the heroes to the temple to find the scout (who is the elf Amber) and continue their exploration. However, as they soon discover, nothing is as it seems... …read more

Game review

It was a dark night, and lightning on the horizon gave a sinister premonition. The heroes of Waterdeep were about to settle by the warmth of the fireplace, and then they received a message from their old friend Khelben Blackstaff. It was urgent. When they arrived at Khelben's mansion, his worried face suggested that another pilgrimage awaited them.

Eye of the Beholder 2: The Legend of Darkmoon is a sequel to the excellent Eye of the Beholder dungeon. You control four adventurers whom you can create according to your own ideas, or you can import your heroes from the previous part and continue the adventure. EoB 2 is made according to the rules of Advanced Dungeons and Dragons (AD&D), which are the oldest board game for heroes. You can choose from different races (Elf, Human, Dwarf, Halfling ...) and professions (Warrior, Mage, Cleric, Thief ...) or combinations thereof.

The local forests are full of wolves, but fortunately we did not have any major problems. After a while, we came across a kind of old woman. How is it possible that she survived among those wolves?

The duel takes place in EoB2 in real time. You must click on weapons and spells as fast as possible. After each attack, you have to wait a while (depending on the weapon or spell how long) before you can click again.

Darkmoon Castle rises in front of us below the dark horizon. We were greeted by two monks at the entrance, but their smiles were too warm. When we looked around, there was no indication that anything was wrong until a young woman in full armor crashed into us - despair was reflected in her eyes. After all, something isn't playing here ...

The graphics in this game represent the peak of that time (at least in terms of dungeons) the spells are nicely animated and everything is hand-painted. Each encounter with a different character is nicely illustrated and completes the atmosphere.
You mostly move around the dungeons, but you also get out. You gradually find weapons and spells after fallen enemies, and of course you gain experience by killing them. You can find sounds here in the form of midi samples and they complete the atmosphere quite decently. Monsters hear walking in the bowels of the dungeon and warn you in time of the presence of the enemy.

The only thing that can be blamed on the game is the absence of a map, which makes it difficult for the already bad orientation in the game. You spend a lot of time wandering around monotonous dungeons, which is frustrating, and sometimes there is more to "discovering" than required.
EoB 2 is a great game of the time, and dedicated RPGs can hold a nice few moments. Classic jigsaw puzzle.
