There are really only a couple of old games, that have become legendary that everybody knows them well, every little boy even of today's generation. One of such games is undoubtedly Dune 2 - the game that laid the foundations for real-time strategy. Westwood Studios in 1998 decided to release a sequel - Dune 2000. Dune 2000 is maybe not a sequel, but a remake of Dune 2: Battle for a Arrakis from 1992. The game is built on the Command & Conquer engine and Red Alert. Graphics, sounds and gameplay have been improved. 2D animations have been replaced with live action sequences. Added the option to mark multiple units at once. New is an improved sidebar, for quick building construction and unit training. The story is not very different from the original. Composer Frank Klepacki took care of the music again. You can choose from three genera in the game. They are the noble Atreides, the evil Ordos and the evil Harkonnen. You play nine missions for each clan. The buildings and units of all clans are almost identical, only the special units towards the end of the game are different. Multiplayer was added to the game, which was missing from the original. The game is directly followed by the sequel Emperor: Battle for Dune.
