Dark Seed is one of the most famous adventure from the 90s and it is mostly thanks to the presence of the famous surrealist painter HR Giger, who created many drawing in the game graphics. As the game gained great popularity, in 1995 came its sequel: Dark Seed II. The storyline begins a year after the first part ended and you in the role of Mike Dawson are trying to forget all the horrors that you had to survive in the first game. The city held your class reunion and you are looking forward to meet your old friend - Rita. The next day, however, you can't remeber anything and sheriff accused you of her murder, and here begins a classic twist. In the game you are trying to prove your innocence, while discovering a variety of dark secrets and strange Rita's past.

As it was already in the first part, here too the plot takes place in two parallel planes. Every step taken throughout the game has an impact and reaction in the fully interactive city, in both its normal and dark forms and vice versa, with a heavy emphasis on conversations, puzzles and various puzzles. To increase the difficulty, the possibility of immediate death following the player's progress is implemented here.

Dark Seed 2 is an excellent adventure game, much better than the first part. The minimalistic graphics of the first one are gone, instead there are standard 1995 graphics with sprouted actors and in the dark world H.R. could finally Giger will develop his deviant imagination. The accompaniment is nervous anti-music, which fits perfectly. So the sleazy 3D movies didn't go well, but so be it. Lapálie running under Windows 3.11 solves the package from one abandonware page, so that's fine.

Gameplay is excellent. The comfortable control with three icons remained (view, use, exit), thank God all the time madness disappeared from number one, so Dark Seed 2 is a classic adventure game. Tough as hell, but fair. You have a fairly wide range of locations open to you from the start, you spend a lot of time chatting with the characters, some places you can only get to after advancing in the story. After some part, you get to the Dark World, which, like in the first part, affects the real one and resembles it. Most things can be figured out, there is no need to try everything, rather patiently return to the characters and find out what happens. I would kick someone for the mirror maze and the final c

In the game you will find many things that could be done better (eg unnecessary dialogues about trivial matters, game controls), but even though, the game has one huge asset and it is the works of H.R. Giger. It is true that without his works, animations and pictures it could be just another adventure that would fell into oblivion. However, many players tolerate any deficiencies of the game, just for the pleasure of drawings that Giger has created for this story.
