Azrael's Tear, released in 1996, is a DOS game that masterfully blends adventure, puzzle-solving, and a deep, compelling narrative. Set in a hauntingly atmospheric world, players delve into the mysterious and ancient ruins of a Templar stronghold in search of the fabled Holy Grail. Azrael's Tear takes place in 2001, where the world is threatened by a deadly infection that only the Holy Grail can avert. The main character is one of the Raptors, a modern archaeologist and, above all, a grave robber. Following the trail of the Holy Grail, he sets off to a newly discovered underground complex. The underground labyrinth is full of all kinds of traps, complicated mechanisms, puzzles and puzzles. In solving them, Raptor is helped by his special helmet, which displays all information about the surrounding world on the screen. Gameplay in Azrael's Tear involves intricate puzzle-solving and exploration. The puzzles are seamlessly integrated into the narrative and the environment, requiring players to be observant and thoughtful. Combat elements are present but play a secondary role to the story and exploration, providing occasional intense moments in the otherwise methodical pace of the game. It takes some experience and patience to solve the tricky puzzles in the slowly unfolding and finely woven story of the Grail, which should particularly motivate experienced adventurers. Beginners, on the other hand, should try it out first.
