Red Alert is one of the most successful and well known real-time strategy, following on the first Command & Conquer released in 1995. Game mechanisms and strategies has not been changed - you have to build a base, produce combat units and you harvest resources. The story, however, is distinctly different - it is not about two enemy organizations, but you can play either for allies or for Soviets. These two sides battle for the fate of planet Earth itself.
It is 1924, Adolf Hitler has been released from prison in Landsberg, Germany, he meets Albert Einstein, thanks to whom Hitler is eliminated and Einstein goes back to the 1950s, where he traveled through time using the Chronosphere machine to prevent World War II. He thus created an alternative reality in which the Soviet Union gained power without being threatened by anyone and gained considerable strength by preventing China. The game has a variety of missions: from conventional forestry, through missions on the water and also indoor missions, where you have to use only infantry.
Command & Conquer: Red Alert is a prequel to Command & Conquer and shows an alternate history in which the Allies are at war against the Soviet Union. Both sides have different units and hence strategy, you will control tanks, infantry, artillery, heavy tanks and many more. You will mine, build factories, power plants, barracks, defensive towers and special weapons of mass destruction, and fight both in the air and on the water. The graphics have been improved since the first Command & Conquer, of course there are animated and live action sequences that complete the story.
