Blackthorne is an action-packed DOS game that weaves a narrative faintly reminiscent of Superman's story, albeit with its unique twist. Set against the backdrop of the once-peaceful planet Tull, the game unfolds a tale of conquest and redemption. Tull's tranquility is shattered when the malevolent warrior Sarlac invades, leading to a reign of terror.
The story of Blackthorne takes place on a planet called Tuul, a planet that has existed for thousands of years beyond human knowledge. All this time the people of Tuulu were ruled by a single shaman who "was blessed with all knowledge." Many years before the start of the game, Thoros, the last ruler, could not decide which of his two sons to sell the scepter to. Believing that he had solved his problem, he led both sons into the desert and killed himself there. His body became two mighty stones, light and darkness, and he gave each to one of his sons to rule in their own kingdoms. The people of the Lightstone formed the kingdom of Androth, and the people of the Darkstone formed the kingdom of Ka'dra'suul.
However, while the people of Androth respected their stone, Ka'dra'suul rejected the Dark Stone, and the stone changed them. He changed into monsters far from human appearance. During these times, a cadre called the Sarlac rises to power and plans an attack on Androth. Knowing what awaits his people, King Androth Valros, with the help of his mage Galadril, sends his son Kyle to Earth to save his life. He sends the stone of light with him. He hopes that one day Kyle will return and save his people. 20 years later, Kyle is a respected military captain and mercenary. After escaping from prison, he has to face the court. He begins to have strange dreams, and is subsequently contacted by Galadriel. It's time to return to Tuul, save your own people. The game begins as Kyle prepares to kill the Sarlacc and take back his throne.
The game's narrative drives a rich and immersive experience, offering a blend of action, adventure, and a quest for justice. It's a journey of a lost prince turned savior, making it a memorable and impactful title in the realm of action games.
